You can disconnect Instagram, delete individual automations, or wipe your entire account at any time. Below is exactly how — in three different ways, depending on what you need.
Last updated · May 27, 2026
Open Instagram → Settings → Apps. Remove CheckYourDM. We’re notified by Meta and clear your data automatically.
Sign in → Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. Takes effect immediately; backups purged in 30 days.
Send a deletion request to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days with confirmation.
Option 1 · In-app
The fastest way to remove your data. Most actions take effect immediately.
Sign in to your CheckYourDM dashboard.
Go to Settings → Account → Danger zone.
Click 'Disconnect Instagram' to revoke the access token (this also tells Meta to forget our app for your account).
Click 'Delete account' to wipe your profile, automations, activity logs, and lead-capture data.
Backups are purged within 30 days. Opt-out records (the people who sent STOP to your account) are retained indefinitely so we can continue honoring opt-outs — they contain no personally identifying data beyond an Instagram-scoped user ID.
Option 2 · From Instagram
You don’t have to log in to CheckYourDM at all. Meta lets you revoke our app from inside Instagram / Facebook:
Open Instagram → Settings → Apps and Websites.
Find 'CheckYourDM' under Active.
Tap Remove. Meta will notify our servers via webhook.
On receiving Meta’s deauthorization webhook, we automatically delete your encrypted access token, mark your Instagram connection inactive, and stop all automation processing for that account within seconds.
Option 3 · Email request
For a full, audited wipe of every record we hold about you — including historical logs, billing metadata, and backups — email us:
Subject: Data deletion request
Include: the email you signed up with, and (if applicable) the Instagram handle you connected.
We respond within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 12 and Meta Platform Terms. We’ll confirm by email once your data has been deleted from production databases; encrypted backups age out within 30 additional days.
What gets deleted
We do not delete opt-out records for recipients who sent STOP — these are kept indefinitely so we never accidentally DM someone who asked to be left alone.
